A styled wedding shoot at Carrow House, Norwich

Planning a styled shoot has been something I’ve wanted to do for a while and my vision finally came to life back in February, at Carrow House in Norwich.

The vision for the shoot was a retro-inspired editorial with a cool, city-chic edge -celebrating colour, personality and playful wedding styling. Think matcha, blush, lilac and apricot tones, layered textures and sculptural florals. I wanted everything to feel modern, but softly nostalgic, and fashion-forward whilst still keeping that romantic softness.

As much as I love so many of the beautiful countryside venues we have here in Norfolk, I’ve always been drawn to the idea of a city wedding in Norwich. I love our city - it’s vibrant, creative and full of personality - and I wanted a venue that reflected that.

Carrow House
felt like the obvious choice for this one, with its gorgeous orangery being the main draw for me - look how stunning those stained glass windows are!

But before any of the planning could really begin, I needed a photographer on board.

I pitched the idea to the wonderful Camilla Andrea, who I’d previously worked with at weddings last year at College Farm and The Brisley Bell, Norfolk. I absolutely loved the final images from both weddings, but beyond that, Camilla is just such a warm and lovely person to work alongside too. If you’re currently looking for a wedding photographer in Norfolk, I would really recommend taking a look at her work.

Thankfully, Camilla was on board with the vision and very patiently listened to all of my planning, overthinking and voice notes over the following weeks (honestly, it felt a little bit like planning an actual wedding at times - huge respect to all my nearly-weds currently in the middle of it!).

THE MAKEUP

I wanted the makeup to feel soft, fresh and radiant - something that complemented the playful colour palette without overpowering it.

The final looks sat somewhere between natural and soft glam, with glowing skin, softly defined eyes and delicate washes of peach and rosy tones throughout. With so much colour and texture running through the styling, the focus was on creating makeup that felt modern, effortless and still like skin.

This is very much the kind of bridal beauty I’m drawn to creating - refined, romantic makeup that feels elevated whilst still feeling completely like you.

THE CREATIVE TEAM

My priority for this shoot was making sure that it felt super collaborative and beneficial for everyone. I didn’t give anyone overly strict briefs, just a moodboard, as I wanted everyone to bring their own creativity and ideas to the table.

The styling was brought together by the wonderful Smoke & Wildwood, whose layered textures and playful details tied the whole vision together beautifully. Tableware, furniture & linens were provided by Banqueting Hire & draping by Quirk Events.

The gorgeous florals were created by East Creations - they brought so much personality and colour to the space and were beautifully complimented by the cake, designed by Sugar Buttons Cakes.

Stationery came from Kate at I Like Pens Studio - I’m obsessed with the little beaded bow details! Kate is also one of the founders behind A Love Thing Wedding Fair — a brilliant wedding fair here in Norwich that champions individuality & inclusivity.

Hair styling was by Alice Rose - curly-haired brides to be, just look at those beautiful curls!

We also had Denni from Confetti Content and she captured the vibe of the day incredibly. You can see some snippets here & here.

Seeing this shoot finally come together was honestly so lovely and getting to collaborate with so many talented local creatives made all the planning completely worth it.

More than anything, this shoot felt like such a good reflection of the kind of bridal beauty I love creating most - soft, romantic makeup that still feels modern, effortless and completely wearable.

If you’re planning your wedding and are drawn to this kind of relaxed, yet refined bridal style, then you are exactly the kind of bride I had in mind throughout this shoot.
